TRANET-AFRICA LAUNCHES PAPER BRIEF ON CSO REGULATION IN UGANDA; CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO RETHINK LEGISLATION ON CSO REGULATION
On Monday the 15th of August 2022, TRANET-Africa launched a paper brief titled, “The State, Civil Society and Human Rights Defenders in Uganda; Rethinking CSO and Civic Space Regulation”. The paper is an outcome of the study conducted in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania that sought to analyze the impact of government legislation on the operating environment and compliance for civil society organizations in the three countries.
the paper seeks to examine the relevance of civil society in Uganda as well as documenting the impact of civil society organization, establishes what is the problem is that requires action and provides alternative proposals for consideration by the government, civil society, donors and the media among others.
